Antrim Emergency Department is a busy district general hospital. Our new state of the art new facility opened 26th June 2013.

Our attendances last year (2020) due to Covid-19 were 79000 compared with 2019s massive number of 94,000! We have an undifferentiated case mix which include Trauma, Paediatrics, General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Psychiatry. Paediatrics make up about 23% of our workload.

Antrim Hospital is a modern General Hospital, commissioned in 1994, to provide a wide range of in-patient and out-patient services. Antrim Hospital is part of the Northern Trust formed in 2007 with Causeway Hospital, Coleraine, Mid-Ulster Hospital, Magherafelt, Whiteabbey Hospital, Whiteabbey, Moyle Hospital, Larne and Braid Valley Hospital, Ballymena. The total catchment population of the Trust is approximately 420,000.

5 Bedded Resuscitation Area with adjacent CT scanner

14 Bedded fully monitored Major’s Area

Minor Injuries Area – 6 rooms

Paediatric area – 6 rooms, separate waiting area toilet and feeding room

10 bedded Observation Ward with 8 bay Ambulatory Emergency Care Area

2 Standalone ED radiology rooms
