Cholinergic poisonings are caused by substances that stimulate, enhance or mimic acetylcholine. This leads to an enhanced activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. Here are a couple of mnemonic SLUDGE

E xcessive bradycardia or tachycardia (muscarinic or nicotinic)

Sources of cholinergic poisoning include organophosphate poisoning (pesticides) and nerve agents
